Kinja'd!!!

This post is inspired by Doug DeMuro's post on the front page about people who park slightly into his driveway.

I live in San Francisco, and I've dealt with the same problem before. Although I haven't had to maneuver around a prius in the last 2 months, because my landlord is greedy and she rented out the driveway I'll get towed for parking in front of my own house.

Parking a few inches into somebody's driveway is a part of daily life in a big city. On my block, I feel comfortable parking about 6 inches or so into my neighbors driveway because I know that everybody on my block has the skill to get around me.

Everybody has parked a couple inches into somebody's driveway. Even people who drive Mini Coopers and Fiat 500's!

my worst experience I've had while parking over driveways in SF was when I caught a homeowner empty out his garbage can all over my rims.

I really get angry when people parked in my driveway. I would write them nasty letters.

I also hated it when people parked inched my driveway, and I'll you why. I lived on a 4 lane road, and I had a telephone pole on the left hand side of the driveway, so you always had to watch out for it when you tipped your car right to get out. If someone parks level with that pole, I can't tip until I block at least 3 lanes of traffic.

When you live on a busy 4 lane road with a LOT of traffic it makes it very very hard to get in our out. I've spent 15 minutes or more at points trying.

So please, do not inch into my driveway.

Technically she rented out the 1-car garage and the driveway as like a double parking space. Part of me thinks the guy who rents out the driveway lives in his car.

Do you back into your driveway? It's a lot more time consuming going in but it saves time going out.

How we handle marking off our parking spots in Pittsburgh:

Kinja'd!!!

A chair on either edge of the driveway entrance is sufficient notice to not park here.

I would if not busy when I came home. If busy when I came home, is impossible. People stop right behind. Have caused traffic jams before hahahahaha.

If you would like to view my former driveway you may do so. I used to park where that silver car is parked.
